Rhinoplasty (Nose Reshaping)

Your nose is the most prominent feature on your face, so it's natural to feel less than confident about a wide nose, dorsal hump, asymmetrical tip or other imperfections. Commonly referred to as a "nose job," rhinoplasty is a popular procedure that can help you achieve your ideal appearance.

About the Treatment

Dr. Lefkowitz will examine your nose and its relation to your other facial features so he can give you perfect balance and symmetry. You'll also discuss your aesthetic goals and Dr. Lefkowitz will make a plan to help you achieve them.

The specifics of the procedure will depend on your specific needs and goals. For example you may need your nose profile adjusted to remove a bump and/or contour a more balanced shape. You may want your nose to be more narrow, or the tip to be more defined.

Most rhinoplasty procedures take 45 minutes to two and a half hours, depending on your aesthetic goals.

Recovery

After a rhinoplasty, swelling and bruising is normal around the nose and eyelids and usually fades in 7 to 10 days. Stitches inside the nose will dissolve on their own. If you have stitches between your nostrils, Dr. Lefkowitz will remove them in about 5 days. The splint on the outside of the nose will usually be removed after 5 to 6 days. You will be prescribed medication to help with any discomfort.

You should take time off work and strenuous activity as you recover. Most patients go back to work after 7 to 10 days but you may go back earlier, depending on your treatment. You should resume light aerobic exercise after 7 to 10 days and increase activity over the next weeks.

After your rhinoplasty, Dr. Lefkowitz will guide you through the post-operative process including sun protection, diet, exercise and skin care. This kind of continued care will give you the best result.
