Facial Rejuvenation

The facelift is an extremely important tool in combatting facial aging. It is frequently used in combination with other facial rejuvenation procedures such as eyelifts (blepharoplasty), necklifts, and brow lifts to help you achieve a more youthful appearance.

Facial skin and the deeper soft tissues relaxed by gravity and aging are instantly restored to a more youthful position, gently and naturally. More than just a skin operation, Dr. Lefkowitz will meticulously reposition and suspend both the underlying foundation and skin to give you a natural look. The goal is to gently restore the relationships between your face, neck, and jawline.

Ideal Facelift Candidate
  • Ages 40’s - 70’s
  • Laxity of the face and neck skin
  • Droop and prominence of jowls
  • Back to Work: 10-14 days
  • Return to Exercise:
    14 days (light cardio),
    4 weeks (moderate exercise),
    6 weeks (more strenuous exercise)

Neck lifts improve facial definition, accentuating your jawline by tightening the skin and underlying soft tissue in your neck.

A liposuction-only neck lift will help remove the excess fat and improve your jawline. For moderate laxity with banding of the underlying muscles in the neck, a lift with a platysmaplasty (where the muscles are tightened) with or without liposuction may be appropriate. For more significant skin excess and muscle laxity, the classical neck lift is most commonly performed—usually in conjunction with a facelift.

Ideal Neck Lift Candidate
  • Excess fat beneath the chin and neck
  • Bands created by drooping neck muscles (platysma)
  • Laxity or droop of neck skin
  • Back to Work:
    4 - 7 days (liposuction only),
7 - 10 days (neck lift with platysmaplasty),
    10 - 14 days (classical neck lift)
  • Return to Exercise:
14 days (light cardio), 4 weeks (moderate exercise), 6 weeks (strenuous exercise)

A variety of methods and techniques can be used to refine the appearance of your nose. This reshaping procedure can address a variety of issues and help you achieve improved facial balance and proportion. In a rhinoplasty, even tiny changes can make a tremendous difference.

Dr. Lefkowitz understands that every nose is different. He works with every client to develop a customized treatment designed to meet his or her own aesthetic goals and expectations.

Ideal Rhinoplasty Candidate
  • Prominent nasal bump
  • Wide nose
  • Nasal tip needing refinement
  • Back to Work: 7 - 10 days
  • Return to Exercise:
    7 - 10 days (light cardio),

There are varying degrees of ear shape issues, ranging from mild projection or prominence with normal ear folds and contours, to more dramatic prominence with poorly defined folds. Otoplasty surgery corrects these anatomical deformities.

Dr. Lefkowitz performs otoplasty on children and adults with prominent ears. The ear of a 5-year-old child is nearly the size of an adult’s, and the earlier the child has the prominence corrected, the less teasing they may endure in school. Dr. Lefkowitz commonly performs this procedure on children this age, but older children and adults may also be candidates for surgery.

Ideal Candidate
  • Prominent, overprojected ears, poorly defined ear folds
  • Children (ages 5 and up), Adults (all ages)
  • Back to Work: 5 - 7 days
  • Return to Exercise:
    7 - 10 days (light cardio),
    2 - 3 weeks (more strenuous exercise),
    Swimming: 2 weeks,
    Contact sports/diving: 6 weeks

Facial implants are commonly used to improve definition and balance facial features. Chin implants can increase a “weak” or recessive chin region and produce a more defined jaw line—bringing the lower face into more proportionate balance with the mid and upper regions of the face. Typically performed in conjunction with a rhinoplasty or other facial procedure, a chin implant helps accentuate a less defined region of the jaw and enhance your natural soft tissue.

Ideal Candidate
  • Small or recessive chin with normal occlusion of the teeth (Normal Bite)
  • Chin and neck line in need of definition
  • Imbalance of facial features (often the relationship between the nose and chin regions)
  • Back to Work: 5 - 7 days
  • Return to Exercise:
    7 days (light cardio),
    2 - 3 weeks (more strenuous exercise)

Baggy, heavy, aged eyelids can cause you to look older and tired—even when you don’t feel it. Common complaints include excess upper eyelid skin, “bags” under the eyes, and skin wrinkles at the sides of the eyes. An eyelift, or blepharoplasty, is a procedure that addresses the anatomical issues that contribute to that tired and aged look.

An upper eyelid lift (upper blepharoplasty) or lower eyelid lift (lower blepharoplasty) procedure can be performed alone, together, or with other treatments (face/neck lifts) depending on your individual needs and aesthetic goals. Upper eyelid lifts are typically performed in the office. Dr. Lefkowitz utilizes a variety of techniques for rejuvenation around the eyes, ranging from injectable treatments like Botox® and fat grafting, to laser/chemical peel resurfacing, as well as surgical skin removal and fat repositioning.

Ideal Blepharoplasty Candidate

  • Excess, droopy upper eyelid skin
  • Bags, puffiness under the eyes (lower eyelids)

  • Back to work:
    Upper eyelid lift:  3-5 days
    Lower eyelid lift:  7-10 days
  • Return to Exercise:
10-14 days (light cardio) then gradually increasing
