Genetics, aging, sun exposure, stress, and lifestyle can change your facial features over time.  A facelift may be the perfect solution to restore a youthful appearance. As a cosmetic facial surgeon, Dr. Lefkowitz can recommend the treatment plan to best meet the naturally beautiful results you desire.

About the Procedure

As part of your facelift, facial skin and the deeper soft tissues are instantly restored to a more youthful position, gently and naturally. Dr. Lefkowitz meticulously repositions and suspends both the underlying foundation and skin to give you a natural, non-operated look.

Your Results

A facelift will gently restore the natural relationships of your face, neck, and jawline by re-suspending tissue that has dropped from its original position. This tissue (called the SMAS) is beneath the skin and is largely responsible for the jowling and bluntingof the jawline that occurs with facial aging. By moving this tissue to a more youthful position, Dr. Lefkowitz redefines and contours your jawline.

Complementary Procedures

The facelift is an extremely successful method for addressing the effects of facial aging. It is frequently performed as part of a larger facial rejuvenation plan that may include eyelift (blepharoplasty), neck lift, brow lifts, and fat grafting. Dr. Lefkowitz will discuss which treatments may best help you achieve your desired aesthetic results.

Recovery

Most clients experience only mild discomfort after a facelift. Swelling and bruising is normal and expected after surgery, however this usually subsides substantially within 10-14 days. It may last a little longer if other surgeries are done at the same time as your facelift.

Dr. Lefkowitz will remove most stitches five to seven days after the procedure and all of the stitches in the hairline by days 10-14. Clients should expect to take 14 days off from work and strenuous activity, however many patients return to work within 10 days. After 14 days, patients may participate in light exercise with a gradual increase in activity over the next couple weeks. Prescription medications will help ease the healing process.

The final aesthetic result is generally apparent within 3 months after surgery. Dr. Lefkowitz believes continuing care is essential. He will guide you through all phases of the post-operative facial rejuvenation process, including sun protection, diet, exercise, and skin care.
