Surgery After Weight Loss

You’ve worked hard and made significant sacrifices to reach your weight loss goal, and yet you may not be completely satisfied with your new appearance. You may notice sagging skin and a deflated look in your face, neck, abdomen, arms, and breasts. Dr. Lefkowitz will carefully evaluate your concerns to create a custom treatment plan that will give you the aesthetic you’ve worked so hard to achieve.

About the Procedure

Depending upon your needs and desired results, Dr. Lefkowitz may suggest several options to achieve the appearance you want. After conducting a full health history, he will carefully examine the areas you are most concerned about.

If you have had weight loss surgery, Dr. Lefkowitz recommends waiting at last 18 months to ensure your weight has stabilized for at least 6 months prior to your procedure in order to give your body the appropriate amount of time to heal and adapt to its new weight and functions. The best candidates' post-weight loss procedures have usually attained a BMI below 30. Safety is Dr. Lefkowitz’ priority and he believes these parameters correlate with improved safety and aesthetic results.

Procedures you may wish to consider include a faceliftnecklift, and/or tummy tuck. You may also consider an upper and/or lower body lift to improve the shape and tone of your abdomen, torso, chest or breasts. An armlift is a great option for patients with sagging skin and soft tissue of the upper arms due to weight loss or age. Dr. Lefkowitz will work closely with you to create a treatment plan just right for you.

Recovery

With so many procedures available to enhance your appearance after dramatic weight loss, the recovery period can vary greatly. Dr. Lefkowitz and his staff will work with you during all phases of your treatment from pre-op to full recovery. Dr. Lefkowitz believes continued care is essential to achieving the best results. He will guide you through all matters of the recovery process, answering questions you may have about diet, exercise and activity levels.
