Arm Lift

Weight loss and genetics can cause excess skin under your upper arms. Often called "bat wings," these areas can be a source of embarrassment for both men and women, causing them to feel uncomfortable in certain clothes because of this excess skin.

About the Procedure

During an arm lift, an incision is made around the excess skin to remove it, creating a slimmer, more toned appearance. Muscles are left untouched — only fat and excess skin are removed. The procedure takes 2 - 3 hours and performed in an outpatient setting. You will be able to go home the same day.

Your Results

Dr. Lefkowitz is committed to taking as much time with the procedure as it takes to give you the most balanced, beautiful results possible. Your arms' final shape and contour will gradually appear over three to six months after your surgery.

Complementary Procedures

Arm lifts are commonly combined with breast lifts for an overall contoured appearance.

Recovery

You will feel mild swelling and tightness in your upper arms after your procedures. Not drain tubes are used for arm lifts. Dr. Lefkowitz recommends 10 days for recovery, but you may need more or less time depending on how much physical activity you do and your healing process.

All sutures will be absorbable, so no stitches will need to be removed. You will also have a compression garment to wear for several weeks after surgery to help with contour and comfort.

Dr. Lefkowitz will continue to guide you through the recovery process and answer questions about diet, exercise and activity levels. This kind of continuing care is essential to the full success of your procedure.
