Body Contouring

During a tummy tuck excess fat is removed, the abdominal muscles are tightened, and the excess skin is trimmed away; giving you a more contoured, youthful body. Dr. Lefkowitz will use liposuction to help remove unwanted fat and can also revise or remove a c-section scar entirely. The goal is a natural, sculpted, and aesthetically balanced abdominal contour, utilizing the technique that suits you best.

Ideal Candidate
  • Localized excess skin and fat of the abdomen
  • Protrusion or laxity of the abdomen/abdominal muscles
  • BMI less than 30
  • More than 6 months after giving birth (allow for full recovery after birth)
  • More than 3 months after any gynecologic surgery (ovarian cysts, fallopian tubes, hysterectomy, etc)
Recovery Time
  • Back to Work: 10 - 14 days
  • Return to Exercise:
    2 - 4 weeks (light cardio),
    6 - 8 weeks (more strenuous)

Though it may be a source of embarrassment and self-consciousness for men and older boys, excessive breast tissue, fat, and chest skin – a condition known as Gynecomastia – is very common.

Dr. Lefkowitz can recommend a variety of procedures to correct this problem, depending upon your needs and desired results. Regardless of the technique used, the result will be a smaller, firmer, natural looking chest.

Ideal Candidate
  • Overall good health
  • Excess male breast fat, breast gland, skin or all three
  • Normal Body Mass Index (BMI)
Recovery Time
  • Go out to dinner the night after surgery
  • Return to Work: 5 - 7 days (no heavy lifting)
  • Return to Exercising:
    14 days (light cardio),
    4 weeks (more strenuous activities)

Liposuction helps to contour and refine areas where localized fat accumulations exist. Liposuction is not considered a weight loss procedure, but is an invaluable tool to fight fat that does not respond to weight loss or exercise.

Dr. Lefkowitz will discuss all of the options available to you based on your particular desires and aesthetic goals. Liposuction is best utilized when patients have a BMI below 30 and have localized areas of excess fat that are unresponsive to traditional weight loss and exercise.

Ideal Candidate
  • Localized areas of excess fat
  • Good skin tone and elasticity
  • BMI less than 30
Recovery Time
  • Back to Work: 1 - 5 days
  • Return to Exercise:
    7 days (light cardio),
    3 weeks (more strenuous)
Significant weight loss, whether through obesity surgery or diet and exercise represents a tremendous improvement in overall health and well-being. Unfortunately, common results of this hard work are sagging skin and a deflated appearance in areas such as the face, neck, abdomen, arms and breasts. After a weight loss plateau, body contouring is often needed to improve aesthetics in the affected areas.
